Windows 8 Update: initialization failed checkout
announcement of Windows 8 was widely available on October 26. I tried one of my laptops to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 using Windows.com Pro for $ 39.99. I got this error “Failed to initialize checkout” error latest Windows 8 Wizard screen update.
Windows 8 Pro upgrade is very cheap. It’s only $ 39.99. Most people want to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. I tried to update today. I was able to get Windows 8 running Upgrade Assistant. Seems compatibility issues. It’s all good. I was ready to upgrade. I payment information etc. When I was ready to upgrade to the last screen, I get this error message “Initializing checkout failed”.
frustrating part was no back button or try to print again. I had to start all over again and re-enter payment information, etc. I got the error again. Windows 8 seems payment processor upgrade has problems. Solution was trying to update some more later. I think everyone was trying to update and payment processor worked. That was a bad thing.
I finally was able to start the update process at the end of the day, when I tried again. You may want to take note of the following
1. Make sure your computer or laptop is not an option to turn it off automatically. Download Windows 8 is the upgrade of approximately 2 GB. It will take some time to download. You can disable the option in Power Options “Put the computer to sleep.” Just double click on the battery icon in the system tray to get to it.
2. If you do not have a good internet speed, you can use Microsoft Windows 8 Pro DVD. It is available on Amazon for about $ 70. You get $ 30 off if you order by October 27
